Tubed or tubeless?
Tubed or tubeless?
I'm currently running my tyres with tubes. Mainly as it made it easier for me to put them together and fit them myself.
One of the tubes seems to have given up - not sure if it is the patch I've just fitted or the seam in the tube where the patch is as that also looked like it was starting to fail.
I don't generally drop my tyre pressures and if I do it wouldn't be by much which seems to remove one of the pros for using tubes.
I can either buy a new tube or go tubeless. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Tubes are OK if you want to run low pressures because they help keep the tyre on the rim but if you do run low pressures it's not unusual to get a puncture from the grit that gets past the bead and sits between the tyre and the tube.
I have used tubes in the past but run tubeless only now and just run at slightly higher pressures. As Bo says, being able to do a sticky string repair without having to take the wheel off the motor wins for me.

Tubes can blowout
Tubes can blowout, think of a balloon, pop a pin in it and it pops, none tubed tyre goes down more slowly in most circumstances.
My preference is for tubless, apart from the above 30 years of using them has never given me a problem, even remember a GF running her mini with 3 nails in her tubless tyre for over a week they still went down slowly and even then allowed her to drive to the garage when we noticed the problem, with a tube you would have had a flat instantly.
