Galvanising conductivity
Having a few 'earthing' problems with Kermit eg. indicators don't work correctly when lights are on, offside indicator flashes much faster when brake lights are on, various warning lights faintly glowing at different times, etc.
I'm gonna check all the earths but just wanted to confirm whether the galvanised coating on my chassis will conduct eletcriity or whether I need to grind down to bare metal at my chassis earth points.

It should be fine straight onto the galvanising.
Later Defenders (TD5 onward) do away with the use of earth points near the lights altogether. Instead the earths are run back through the harness to a central earth on the front of the bulkhead. (Which I then run a direct cable to the battery from too).
Much more reliable that way, especially when combined with the bullet connectors being scrapped from the 300TDi onwards Defenders.
Having earth returns going through body panels increases the problems of galvanic corrosion too.
