Event Type

This is a trials competition run for road going vehicles and is intended to be none damaging (RTV Trial). As with all our trials you should be able to drive to the trial, compete and drive home again afterwards. Mentoring can be provided for novice competitors on request and you will have the chance to walk each section and novices will get to see other vehicles drive it first. Further information on the types of event we run and vehicle requirements are available here…
Trial Information…
Scrutineering starts at 9.00am, closing at 10am with the trial starting by 10.30am, please see the directions for location information.
This site is probably the least forgiving of the sites we use. Although care is taken to avoid running sections through damaging routes, the heavily wooded nature of the site means that a mistake from the driver or driving off the intended route may result in bodywork damage.
This event is being run under a Motorsport UK permit. Full SR’s for the event can be supplied on request. An extract of the most relevant parts is given below. You will need to be a member of the YORC or an invited club to take part, you must also have completed a signing form. You will also need a Motorsport UK license, available for free from here…

All drivers must produce a valid Club Membership Card at ‘signing on’ and must hold a full and currently valid driving Licence and appropriate Motorsport UK License.

Only one passenger aged over 16 may be carried on a vehicle during an observed section. This minimum age is reduced to 14 providing the vehicle is fitted with seat belts and either a manufacturers hard top, truck cab or a roll bar. The minimum age is further reduced to 12 where the vehicle is a road legal, mass produced production vehicle retaining the original hardtop or truck cab and where the seat belts comply with the appropriate regulations(7.7.6.1)(In a soft top vehicle without a roll bar the passenger must be at least 16).(20.8.1.4)

The same driver must drive throughout a competition and except with official approval, the people carried at the start of an event must not change during the event. (20.8.1.2)

The starting order will be allocated randomly (manual adjustments may be made to allow for double entries and novice competitors) and announced by the clerk of course or nominated scorer during the driver briefing. (20.8.2.1)

Technical

All vehicles taking part must comply with the current vehicle and technical regulations of the Motorsport UK NCR as appropriate to the event. (20.10)

Driver and Passenger must sit in appropriate seats at all times. Seat belts, must be correctly worn as per the design and manufacturers instructions, by both drivers and passengers. Failure to do so will incur an automatic 12-point penalty.

Directions:
The simplest way to find the site is from the Ferrybridge Services off the M62 (Jct 33). From the roundabout the services are on take the northbound exit onto the old A1 (A162), follow the old A1 north (A1246 after roundabout) until it changes to a single carriageway, the site is on the right very shortly after that point.
From the north you can exit the A1(M) at Jct 42 (A63), turn right at the first roundabout at the end of the sliproad, straight on at the second roundabout, left at the third and that brings you onto the old A1. Once you cross over the A1(M), go straight on (first exit) at the next three roundabouts and the site will be next (170 yards) on your left, if you miss it and get onto the dual carriageway you’ll need to go all the way to Ferrybridge Services to turn around.
