Self locking door
My drivers door keeps locking itself when I try to open it from the inside.
Unlock door with key.
Open door and get it.
Close door and drive.
Open door using inside latch, the lock button drops part way and the door doesn't open.
Had the liner off and can't see anything binding or wrong. Squirted lots of oil in the mechanism and kept locking/unlocking it to try and free anything up. It hasn't always done this - just started recently.
Any ideas? Is this a knackered lock that needs replacing? Is there any point in taking the lock out and fettling it on a bench?

there is a small spring in the mechanism to keep the latch up on the disco's. Unsure if the defender's lock mechanism is the same.

Our skoda re-locks the doors if you unlock them then don't open anything within 10 seconds (or something like that). But if you open a door it doesn't. Sounds odd on yours....
As for my door, I think I'm going to add a bit of bungy cord to apply slight tension to the button and hold it up. If that doesn't do it, I'll put up with it as long as I can then replace the lock.
