Bump stops Last bit :) If the kit you eventually put together is well designed and thought out then you can use standard bump stops. If you don't get the shock absorbers mounted correctly though and use extended shock absorbers then you can find the shock absorbers bottom out before the axle hits t...

Shock Absorbers / Dampers Once you have your ride height sorted with suitable springs you can start looking at shock absorbers that match them. You need dampers to control the springs on rebound and also to assist the springs when you hit a big hole and they are under compression. Under compression...

Springs +2 inches is pretty vague, it's only used as a marketing ploy. +2 inches compared to what exactly ? A typical salesman would tell you 2 inches taller than a standard 90 but there's no such height as the height of a 90 differs from model to model and what weight you are carrying. I'd suggest...

Disco 300 drop arm doesn't have the built in track rod end, the drag link has 2 track rod ends. Makes it much easier to maintain as you can change the TRE in a few minutes rather than having to mess around trying to rebuild the one in the drop arm. Changing the drop arm can be hard work but it's a o...

Britpart HD steering rods come complete with track rod ends and are very good. I've used them for years without any issues. The down side (if it is a downside) is you can only buy them in pairs so when/if you do manage to bend one you have to buy another pair. Sumo come in slightly more expensive (G...

It is indeed a can of worms ! Soldering connectors in automotive uses is a bad idea because solder, being soft, can migrate/move about. When fresh it will give the best electrical connection but mechanically it's not ideal. It gives complete protection against corrosion at the joint because lead is,...

http://www.muddytruckers.co.uk/wp-content/gallery/muddy-truckers-2002/0054.jpg I've been putting this off for a few days as I really didn't know what to say and still don't really to be honest. I'm sad to say that Nigel passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning. Some of you may be aware that Nigel ...

When I wired mine, I looked for low resistance 50mm2 battery cable and could not find any that claimed to outperform the quality welding cable I chose. The general consensus on the web appeared to be that area of most resistance would be the crimps and that the only way to fix that was by soldering...

To upgrade the alternator, can I just add a second cable direct from the alternator to the battery in addition to the existing cable? Or do I need to run a single larger cable via the same routing as the existing cable? Yes, you can, the starter motor is wired straight to the battery already anyway...

You're best upgrading the alternator wiring although in truth you'll probably get away with the standard cable as the chances of the alternator putting out 100A for any sustained period is pretty slim ! The resistance of the cables is the most important factor with winches (or any high current 12v s...
