A Frame Ball Joint Removal
A Frame Ball Joint Removal
Need to replace the ball joint on the A-Frame 'cos it's just about worn away. I've removed the whole frame from the vehicle and also the two bolts that 'seem' to fasten the two halves of the ball joint assembly together but it won't come apart.
I've hammered a cold chisel into the joint between the two 'halves' and it still won't come apart.
On the top of the assembly there's what looks like a big slot-head screw head with a kind of lock washer knocked in at the ends of the slot. I've tried to 'unscrew' this with the chisel but again no luck - I'm not even sure if this needs to be touched to get the ball joint apart.
Help.............................

You need a BIG press to get the old joint out and put the new one in.
It's one of those jobs that you're best getting a garage to do for you, preferably one that's familiar withe the job. Personally I'd give Patrick a ring at Maddison 4x4 and ask him to supply and fit a new ball joint and tell him you'll bring the A frame over, he'll do it while you wait (doesn't take long).
