Axle drive flange bolts.
Anyone got any handy tips on how to get the 17mm bolts out of the hub drive flanges? I'm trying to work out what is broken in the back axle of my 110 and I think I've narrowed it down to the driver's side halfshaft but out of the 5 bolts holding the drive flange in only one came out easily, one came out with lots of heat and use of the windygun, one head has sheared off and the other two are refusing to budge even after a good session with the blowtorch and windygun last weekend, daily WD40 applications all week and then another hour or so with the blowtorch and windygun today.

Probably not what you want to hear but if they are that bad they are almost certainly seizes into the flange rather than the hub.
The only sensible solution is to sacrifice the drive flange and carefully cut it away with a slitting disk in mr angry grinder. The bolts wll normally come out of the hub OK.

Just come in from the latest attack on the thing and it is now at least finally apart. It turns out it doesn't matter that I had to butcher the drive flange with the angry grinder as it was scrap anyway. The problem is that the splines on both the halfshaft and flange had worn so much that the halfshaft was simply spinning in the flange.
So now I just need to get the two stumps of bolt out of the hub and get a new halfshaft, flange, plastic cap and set of bolts.
Anyone got any of those bits kicking around?
Paul
