Well after some 25,000 miles in some 7 months and less then a week before the 110 I have managed to get stopped by the Aussie boys in blue. I had made the 110 a bit obvious by accidentally switching on the roof lights when I put the sat nav on the windscreen. (Mud console and a tidy up of switches r...

There again seeing som...

Learning wisdom at last eh Brew! You might be advised to pick up a Chrissie pressie on the way home too, I know how you hate shopping at the best of times. B Is that some form of subtle hint? :P How do you know I have not already got one???? Thanks for the comments folks. Just be a bit wary if I offer to show you a few photos. More likely to be a few thousand as have over 6800 on lap top! Some boring figures for you. On current trip have so far covered 24,770 miles, used 4247 litres of fuel at a cost of 9,830.07 A$ which works out as an...

In a journey of some 25,000 miles taking some 7 months with some 80% done on non sealed roads some hiccups are to be expected. Apart from standard items replaced when the 110 was serviced these are the hiccups that were experienced and the cause and solutions adopted. Also some items stood out as ex...

Left the dirt at the end of the Oodnanatta track and headed on the bitumen towards Broken Hill. It seemed appropriate that Broken Hill should be at the end of the main part of the trip as it was really the start of the trip as well Heading into Sydney was a bit of a downer. Sleeping in a bed again a...

The journey back to Sydney was not going to be as straightforward as I wanted as many roads were closed due to the recent heavy rain. Roads are closed both for safety and also to minimise damage to the road surface. Ruts put into wet road surface sets like concrete making driving dangerous and costi...

Dooh, I could kick photobucket. All images are in correct format in PB! After getting back to Alice we had to experience an early morning outback balloon ride. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a85/leedslandrover/IMG_8672.jpg Due to cloud cover we could not fky high but I think the other pilot meant ...

After the Simpson and the Old Ghan it was time for Jon and me to play at being normal 'tourist' and in Alice that means visiting the Rock. The Rock is certainly an impressive chunk of masonry! http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a85/leedslandrover/IMG_8155.jpg It has some wonderful water holes around i...

After crossing the Simpson, filled the 110 up at Mt Dare. After some 400 miles the fuel economy for those 3 days was just less then 18mpg. That beat by previous worst record of 22 mpg. It is an indication of the soft going that we experienced crossing the Simpson caused by a combination of sand stor...

After the Tanami track we had a quick rest in Alice and caught up with household chores like washing clothes etc before heading east along the Plenety and Donohue Highways to Birdsville and the Simpson desert. We might as well not have bothered doing the washing because somehow enroutre we lost the ...

From Katherine we headed west towards Halls Creek on the bitumen. From Halls Creek we headed south down the Tanami track which is 600+ miles of dirt road. It took us 3 days to do this track and saw a total of 5 other vehicles in the trip down the Tanami. On the way down experienced a momentary loss ...

We are now safely back in Alice after experiencing sand storms, torrential rain, fantastic lighting shows, flooded roads, beached 110 etc. Both of us are feeling back endish as the trip is rapidly coming to a close. Many roads are now officially closed which will limit possible routes back to Sydney...
