Nick, we have two of the motors you list, a 2004 Freeloader and a 2010 Volvo XC60. We got the Freelander new and within a year the fuel pump packed in and was changed under warranty, a couple of months ago it started to get noisy again so I changed it (20mins and £90) and its fine again. Hi Mark, looking in the workshop manual, it looks like the early diesels had five wires to the ignition whereas the petrol and later (86 on) models only had four. I found this clip of a 90 chassis change on you tube. This crew are going some as talking with Al at Richards chassis, it takes them 4 days to do a straight swap including MOT and they are doing them week in week out.
