Cheers Bob. The arm was stuck in the closed position but managed to free it off now. If it was stuck shut would that account for the clouds of black smoke when accelerating hard from low revs? ALso, just noticed that the adjustable rod from the actuator to the arm I've been talking about is about a ...

200Tdi Wastegate
All Had to take the exhaust manifold/turbo assembly off the engine 'cos the exhaust manifold gasket needed replacing. Got that job done fine but while I had the turbo off I found that the wastegate actuator mechanism was stuck solid. I disconnected the adjustable rod and the shaft that runs into the...

Going Auto
Starting to think about converting Kermit to an auto. Want to keep the 200 TDi engine and am looking at a 200 Tdi auto box on t'Bay. Couple of questions: 1. Am I right in assuming the only difference betwen a 200 Tdi and 300 Tdi box assembly is the bellhousing ie. the actual gearbox is the same? 2. ...

Heater matrix removal.
I've discovered a leak in one of the copper pipes at the top of the heater matrix. I think I can get it soldered up but I've obviously got to remove it from the heater/fan assembly to do it. Having examined the unit (and it's still on the vehicle) the only way to get the heater matrix out seems to b...

Alternator swap
All Bought a 'spare' alternator for the motor (secondhand via 'the Bay'). As mine is a 200Tdi motor I assumed that it would have a 200Tdi alternator on it, however the new 'replacement' has different connections on the back. The current alternator has a 3 pin Lucas connector on the back whereas the ...

Adrian Honestly it's a piece of cake. The cut-out template comes with it and it's dead easy to fix - just two bolts. The hardest andfiddlyest bit is getting the extra wires fed behind the dash and into the pod. In the end I made a hole in the bulkhead to pass the main extra wires through (with a gro...
