Mark, I agree with all of them that it's safer using the starter motor to undo the bolt. If you are only using the crank pulley locking tool, all the strain will be put on the woodruff key. If you then add a crank position tool (through bell housing), which is only 5mm thick, you will bend it in no ...

So it IS charging then... :) Additional Earth had been added from engine block to battery -ve. Alternator IS cha...

Have just noticed the headlight flickering a little while driving just now. The RPM is also flickering up and down. The volt meter show the alternator charging, but does move slightly between 13.8volt - 14.2 volt. Had cleaned the spade terminal with wire wool and replaced the spade connector. It onl...

Ah - just had a look and this one's for a 300 Tdi, mines a 200 Tdi. I assume they're different (I may be wrong). http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/timing-belt-p-1695.html - will only fit disco 200tdi and not defender's. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Disc-Defender-200TDI-Timing-Belt-Kit-DA1200-/1104521...

Richard....when I stripped down mine a few days back, I've found the gearbox side drum seal had been chewed up and the grease in the gearbox had turned into mayo. So, I cleaned/scrapped off as much grease/mayo as possible to the gears, then soaked them in white spirit. Using a brush and old toothbru...
