Aluminium welding
does anyone on here know of someone that could do a small spot of ally welding in the wakefield or Barnsley area? My mate has a very stupidly expensive bike and has managed to develop a crack in the frame. Its 'Alpha aluminium", which apparently is just extruded aluminium, and its got a hairlin...

i'm still arguing with the insurers at the moment ot even be able to have the bloody salvage! the insurers want it for themselves - but obviously i legally still own it. So to be awkward they are now saying i must pay the recovery and storage costs before it can be released and then claim that back ...

supposedly they have problems on the 2.2dci with turbos leaking oil past the seals / premature failure and problems with leaking intercoolers. the warning signs are oil leaking out of the bottom left of the intercooler as you look at the engine from the front and smoking under high revs/boost. Seems...

the nissan Xtrail wins! having driven a nice top spec td4 freelander, i was extremely unimpressed. Head room was limited for me, inside felt very cramped, boot was tiny (certainly not big enough for 3 dogs) and it was slowwwwww. Certainly didnt feel like it had any major get up and go and felt like ...

it is possibly on the list after Sara saw one and had a poke about. She didnt realise how big they were. I think thats the thing with these 'small' SUVs nowadays - when we first got the disco 1 many moons ago, the small soft roaders were actually very small . Anyone remember the little rav4 and crv ...

Help me chose a new motor
as you;ve probably seen elsewhere on here - Sara's disco2 is no more. it is squished with very little chance of being an economical repair. so we now have the issue of finding another motor. I love the disco 2, however many (and there are many) foibles it has and i would gladly have another. but may...

how many wires off that battery!!! never had a new car and never intend to either - not unless i win the lottery. I think i'll stick with nearly new and run it for 10 years until its properly dead. I'll leave the 'must have a new car' syndrome to Sara's dad. His last two bmw's spent more tim...

absolutely! most car manufacturers still build vehicles with the fleet market in mind. They make them as cheaply as possibly with the minimum service schedule that they can get away with to last 3 years / 60k miles and with the smallest warrant outlay. That means they are super competitive to fleet ...

i have a tdi 90 with no boxes or silencers and dont find it too bad, chopped the middle silencer out and slide in a new section of pipe and used a disco rear section to make an arch over the back axle and for it to exit out the back under the crossmember (protected by the tow bar frame next to it). ...
