Galvanising conductivity
Having a few 'earthing' problems with Kermit eg. indicators don't work correctly when lights are on, offside indicator flashes much faster when brake lights are on, various warning lights faintly glowing at different times, etc. I'm gonna check all the earths but just wanted to confirm whether the g...

Memory Map problem
Hi - hope someone out there can help. I've got the latest version (V5) of MM on my PC and also the paid app on my iPad. Can transfer maps across from PC to iPad no problem but when I transfer routes, they do not show up on the iPad. Have tried both iTunes and e-mail routes and in both cases everythi...

Endfloat
In preparation for rebuilding the front axle internals with the new halfshafts I've been thinking about how to sort out the end float and I've got a few questions: 1. How crucial is it to have endfloat within the tolerances set in the spec (according to Haynes in should be 0.12 - 0.25mm). 2. I've no...

Just remember I had the original front shafts (10 spline) from when I stripped the vehicle last year. Rooted them out of the cellar and bugger me - the shaft from the CV to the outside end is an inch longer :o ! That being the case and assuming the axle casing is the same dimensions on a Defender/Di...

My shaft it too short !!
Just about completed the exercise of fitting the ARB's into Kermit from the trayback I bought last week but I've come up against a bit of a problem. Both axles on the trayback were disco ones and although my rear one is a disco, the front is a defender one. I had to swap the front halfshafts/CV's be...

Thanks Dave - comprehensive answer as ever. The truth is that I probably fell into the trap of fitting the extended bump stops not because I'd worked out I needed them but more down to 'anecdotal' stories from people who were no more informed than I was and also a bit of 'spin' from the sales guy! M...

It's a question of length .................
Having now fitted the 200+ lbs of Devon bumper and 8274, I've only got about 3 inches of compression travel on the front suspension ie. between the axle and the bump stop. I've got around 5 inches at the back. The springs are medium weight +2's and the dampers +5's. I've also got extended turrets (+...
