You used the wrong MOT man didn't you !!!, bonnet retaining catch well I haven't got one and I don't think it's a fail as long as the bonnet is secure (pins are fine) My ex military 110 has never had a bonnet catch since the day it was made and nobody has ever questioned it at MoT time. You must ha...

Just having a think about this (sat in the delightful surrounds of a layby on the A180 near Immingham...) and I'm wondering if I'm not better getting a complete disco rather than just buying an engine/box by themselves? My theory is that you can get complete 200tdi discos for little over 500quid and...

Just rung him, he's wanting to break it rather than sell it complete but that's fine by me as long as I get all the bits I need. Might go and have a look over the weekend although the plans for the weekend are a bit hazy as Daisy (our black lab) is currently in labour so it's hard to be certain what...

Find a 300 tdi disco auto then (not the latest drive by wire ones though) and the jobs a good en. Aye, I'll probably do that. Don't think there's any danger of my budget being enough to get one of the later ones anyway. You seem to be able to pick earlyish ones up for anywhere from about 500quid up...

Paul , easiest route is 300tdi disco, gearbox mounts are on crossmember which bolts into your chassis Thanks for the reply Matthew. If the gearbox mounts are on the crossmember does that mean it would be just as easy (other than mounting and plumbing the oil cooler) to stick an auto in it? I'm gett...

V8 to Tdi conversion
As mentioned on another thread I'm seriously considering swapping the V8 in my 110 for a Tdi. As much as I love the V8 with the cost of LPG rising much faster than the cost of diesel and the lack of range and places to fill up, combined with the fact that both the engine and the LPG kit are getting ...

Salisbury diff nose bearing.
Is it possible to change the bearing where the prop goes into a Salisbury diff without taking the insides out? Mine has lots of play in it and it's getting worse by the day. If not, anyone know of a decent Salisbury back axle for a coil sprung landy for sale? Ideally disc braked but if the price is ...

Cheers Paul, Could that translate to better fuel economy I wonder. I'm not sure tbh. I can't see it making any difference round town as you'll just tend to be in a lower gear to compensate. On a long higher speed run you might find you get a few more mpg if you have enough power to keep it in 5th b...

It would be nice to find out what all the numbers mean in the real world: it will be fast/slow on road, too fast/slow in low box off road etc etc Assuming both gearboxes are R380s and from Tdi vehicles they will probably be the same, so the only difference will be in the transfer box. I think I'm r...

To be honest Nick, I would just swap it and give it a try, you can always swap the transfer box later if it is a problem. I can't see it though as plenty of Disco's run 235x85's on and off road without issues and they weigh considerably more than the 90. Discos have more horsepower as standard than...
