Wayne Lowther
Many of you will probably already be aware that last year Wayne was diagnosed with cancer. After undergoing treatment for his cancer he contracted an infection and, sadly, Wayne lost his battle with the infection this morning and passed away. Wayne first joined the club in 2003 and was an active mem...

Mick Simpson
Very sad to have to report that Mick passed away on Saturday. Mick was a founder member of the club and, along with Marion has been a valued club member as well as a personal friend.
We'll pass on the details and arrangements for the funeral once they are confirmed.

Re: Advice and assistance
Hi, you can attend any of our events once Covid restrictions are lifted but currently no spectators are allowed at events. You will need to be a club member to take part (drive) in any of our competitions and will also need a Motorsports UK RS License (free license, apply online). I think your daugh...

Re: Membership changes for 2021
If you log into your shop account and see a message in "Club Membership Details" that says your membership account isn't linked, this is because the two systems have been unable to identify you as the same person and I will need to manually link them. The automated process uses a number of...

Re: Membership changes for 2021
This weekend some of the first changes were rolled out to the club web site to move us towards supporting a "paperless" membership process. The first change is the addition of a new option/link on your shop/web site account page: https://yorkshireoffroadclub.net/my-account/ Once you are lo...

Membership changes for 2021
At the January 2021 club night, on Tuesday, we discussed ways to recognise the current pandemic and the effect on our events, club activities and our members. There were a few options discussed but it was eventually decided that, for membership renewals, we should extend the membership length from 1...

Club Newsletter by Email
To try and better communicate with our members and re-connect after our enforced break, we've set up a new email system. This email system will allow us to occasionally send out newsletters and club updates. The first newsletter will go out to all members (assuming we have your email address) tonigh...

I'm very sad to report that Chris Aviss has passed away. His funeral will be held at Dewsbury crematorium on the 25th October at 09:30, followed by a small gathering at a local cricket club. If anyone wishing to attend could contact me in the first instance, I will send on the family's contact detai...

Re: Defender rear diff running very hot at input flange area
It'd be worth dropping the propshaft off and making sure the UJ moves freely. Also be careful when greasing the siding joint, I've seen them "hydraulic" if the hole in the end plate is blocked and that can cause the UJs some pain. Make sure the propshaft can expand/contract on the sliding ...

Facebook page update
For those that do Facebook, there have been some changes to our presence which means we now have a Facebook group but we also have a Facebook page as well. I'm yet to figure out what the pros and cons are for this but for the moment there is some overlap and part of the new website design (I know, i...

Account Change Emails
You may receive emails from the club's web site regarding your account/password having changed. If this email mentions Wordpress then it is from the development site, not the live club site and is a result of some changes I've made in the new site to harden up the security used to encrypt the passwo...
