single key for door locks
I see sets of 3 door locks on ebay for the defender. I'm changing my front doors for some better condition ones and am thinking about buying new lock barrels for them. Is it possible to get a new barrel for the rear door that will use the same key?
Does this need to be a newer one piece style rear door or can I do it for my older door?

You have a couple of choices.
a) Just buy a 3 barrel set for your age of 90. The set will come with some keys and you can replace the two front door and the rear door barrel - on the old style "2 piece" rear door the barrels are the same as the barrels used in the older (pre 2007 isn) front doors.
b) If you want better security and a single key to fit ignition, front doors and rear door, you can buy a lock kit for a 2007 on Defender. This will include a new ignition lock and 3 barrels - for the front and rear doors. To fit the later style locks to earlier front push button doors you will need to change the door handles. To change the rear door lock to the later style you will need a new lock mechanism - I may be able to sell you one of those
Option B is fairly expensive (around 200 quid all in IIRC) whereas option A will cost you around 10 quid if you go aftermarket. I have a list of part numbers for option B as I've converted Pam's motor to the later locks.
The later style locks use a longer barrel with more tumblers in it, hence it uses a proper ignition key to open them all. They have the advantage that there are more than 3 different keys used so it's unlikely anyone else will be able to open your door with their key... which should stop Matthew putting the BBQ in the back of your motor when you're not looking
